    1. Give TWO advantages and TWO disadvantages of hosting a web site at home rather than hosting in a remote web server of web hosting company. (4 marks)

Susan has written a testing web page with filename test.htm, and she can view the page at her server from her own computer. She has checked that the IP address of her computer is 202.17.5.48. Susan has sent an email to her friend Tommy, with an URL for him to test her web server.

    1. What should be the URL to open the testing web page? (1 mark)

    2. Tommy enters the URL in web browser, but he cannot open the web page.

      1. Suggest ONE possible reason if he gets an “HTTP 404 Not Found” error. (1 mark)

      2. Suggest THREE possible reasons if he gets a “server not found” error. (3 marks)

Susan has registered a domain name, susan.com, for her web server. Susan has setup a mapping between her domain name, susan.com, and her server’s IP address, 202.17.5.48, at the DNS server.

  1. Mr. Wong uses a spreadsheet program to help him calculate the scores of his student. He teaches three classes (3A, 3B, and 3C), and each class consists of 30 students.

He uses three worksheets to store the marks of the three classes, namely “S3A”, “S3B” and “S3C”. The following is the worksheet for class 3A:

Worksheet “S3A”:

The weighting of all homework is 20%, weighting of the test is 30%, and that of exam is 50%. The total mark should be rounded off to 1 decimal places. For example, the total mark for 3A no.1 will be:

    1. A formula calculating the total mark is entered in G2 and the copied to the cells below. Write down the formula. (2 marks)

    2. Suppose only the best two homework out of three are counted towards the total. For example, for 3A no.1, only HW1 and HW3 are counted. Write down the new formula in G2. (3 marks)

    3. The grade of each student is determined by the table on the worksheet “Rule”. A formula is entered in H2 and then copied to the cells below. Write down the formula. (3 marks)

      2. The cell C5, C6, and C7 show the number of student getting grade A, grade B-D, and grade F respectively in class 3B. Write down suitable formulas for the cells. (6 marks)

    1. To calculate the marks for class 3B, can Mr. Wong copy the formula from worksheet “S3A” to worksheet “S3B”? Explain briefly. (2 marks)
